The Civil Service Commission (CSC) officially opens the 114th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) with the R.A.C.E. to Serve Fun Run IV on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the SM Mall of Asia grounds.

Thousands of civil servants together with their family and friends will join the fun run.

With the theme “Tapat na Serbisyo Alay Ko Dahil Lingkod Bayani Ako,” this year’s anniversary celebrates the dedication to public service of the 1.4 million civil servants.

Now on its fourth year, the fun run is open to all Filipino citizens 18 years old and above.

Proceeds of the fun run will go to the Pondong Pamanang Lingkod Bayani, the fund for families of state workers who died in line of duty.

The race features three categories—3K, 5K, and 10K distances—open for both men and women who are Filipino citizens 18 years old and above.

Department of Health Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Eric Tayag will lead the warm up exercises at 5:00 a.m. at the assembly area.

Gun start for the 10K category will be at 5:30 a.m., to be followed by 5K category at 5:45 a.m., and lastly, 3K category at 6 a.m.

First, second, and third place winners of the 10K run will receive PHP30,000, PHP24,000, and PHP22,000, respectively. 5K distance winners will receive PHP20,000, PHP16,000, and PHP14,000, while winners of the 3K category will receive PHP10,000, PHP8,000, and PHP6,000.

The event is supported by the Government Service Insurance System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Philippine Sports Commission, City Government of Pasay, Metro Manila Development Authority, Philippine National Police, Social Security System, SM Mall of Asia, Maynilad Water Services, and Jollibee Foods Corporation.

The CSC spearheads the annual celebration of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary held every September in commemoration of the birth of the civil service in the country on Sept. 19, 1900.

CSC Chairman Francisco T. Duque III enjoins all public officials and employees to participate in the events and activities lined up for the month-long celebration.
